PG: How has being a poet influenced your filmmaking?
SB: Being a poet is how I am a filmmaker—it’s far away from influence and right up against is. My first exposure to experimental film or art film spoke very plainly to me as poetry, or at least the type of poetry I am most interested in. The kind which sort of points and nudges and then throws you up in the air and begs you to pause, hovering, for a moment.
